The Work

What we
actually do.

The boardroom, the trading desk, the operating room, the courtroom - these are performance arenas too. The mental skills that work for elite athletes work just as well in business - and we’ve been adapting them for years.

FPA Performance offers executive coaching in Tampa Bay from licensed psychologists, in person at our St. Petersburg and Trinity offices or by telehealth anywhere in Florida. We work with executives, founders, attorneys, physicians, and other professionals whose work happens under load. The focus is practical: making clear decisions in compressed time, leading teams through stress, recovering from setbacks, and sustaining a multi-decade career without burning out.

Who we work with

  • Executives navigating high-stakes decisions and leadership transitions
  • Founders managing the emotional load of building a company
  • Attorneys preparing for high-stakes argument or negotiation
  • Physicians and surgeons handling chronic acute decision-making
  • Sales leaders, traders, and other quota-driven performers
You can’t out-grind a broken mental model. Fix the model.
Who It’s For

Sound familiar?

Common signs the work would land.

SIGN 01

Decision fatigue

By 3pm you’re making worse calls than you did at 9. By Thursday you can’t see straight.

SIGN 02

Imposter loop

You’re running a team and convinced they’ll find out you don’t know what you’re doing.

SIGN 03

Burnout creeping

The thing you loved building feels like an obligation. You can’t remember why you started.

SIGN 04

Conflict avoidance

A difficult conversation has been sitting on your list for six weeks.

SIGN 05

Recovery doesn’t work anymore

Vacations don’t restore you. Weekends evaporate. Sleep doesn’t fix it.

SIGN 06

Identity = role

When work goes badly, you fall apart. A long-term liability we can address.

The Approach

Athlete-grade work
for the boardroom.

Performance psychology, adapted to the demands of leadership and high-stakes professional work.

01
Decision protocol

Frameworks for making cleaner decisions under time pressure - and recovering when one goes wrong.

02
Energy management

Treat your day like a competitive schedule. Block work, recovery, and reset like a coach would build a training week.

03
Leadership presence

How you hold yourself in a room. Voice, body, attention. The same fundamentals as any other stage skill.

04
Conflict & feedback

The difficult conversations you’ve been avoiding - drilled, then delivered. The cost of avoidance is higher than the conversation.

05
Burnout repair

A structured plan for restoring energy, motivation, and clarity. Not a vacation. A protocol.

06
Identity work

Decoupling your sense of self from the latest performance review or funding round. The career is long.

Why a Psychologist

Why a
psychologist as
your executive
coach.

Most business coaches bring frameworks from their own careers. An executive coach with doctoral training in psychology brings something different: an understanding of how stress changes judgment, why smart people avoid the one conversation that matters, and how burnout builds long before it shows.

  • Decisions under pressure: cleaner calls in compressed time, and a recovery plan when one goes wrong
  • Leadership: presence, feedback, conflict, and leading a team through a hard quarter
  • Burnout: catching it early and rebuilding energy with a plan, not a vacation
  • Presenting and pitching: paired with our public speaking anxiety work when nerves get in the way

The same protocols we use with athletes apply here. To see how that translates, read coaching lessons for off-field success, or our post on burnout, which reads just as well for a founder as for an athlete.

Cost

Executive coaching is fee-for-service and is not billed to insurance. If clinical concerns like anxiety or depression come up during the work, we'll talk with you about therapy options and how those would be handled.

An executive coach helps leaders perform better under pressure: making decisions, leading people, handling conflict, and sustaining energy over a long career. Our executive coaching is delivered by licensed psychologists.
We're doctoral-level licensed psychologists. Beyond leadership and decision-making skills, we understand how stress, anxiety, and burnout affect performance, and we can recognize when something clinical needs attention.
Yes. We meet clients in person at our St. Petersburg and Trinity offices in the Tampa Bay area, and by telehealth anywhere in Florida.
Sessions are confidential. We do not share information with employers. If a company is paying, we set the boundaries up front.
We see clients Monday through Thursday 9am to 7pm and Friday 9am to 5pm, and video sessions work well for travel-heavy roles.
No. Coaching is fee-for-service. If clinical concerns like anxiety or depression come up, we can talk through therapy options with you.
Often does. Many executives come in for a specific issue and end up doing broader work on burnout, identity, or relationship patterns. We can hold both.
